Shihan Mitsuo Yoshida

Shihan Mitsuo Yoshida

In 1990, the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) sent Shihan Mitsuo Yoshida to Bangladesh.

During his time in the country, Yoshida Sensei dedicated himself to teaching Shotokan Karate at the Bangladesh Karate Federation (BKF) and the Bengal School of Shotokan. He instilled in his students not only the techniques of karate but also the importance of discipline and adherence to rules. As a judge in tournaments, he was known for his unwavering fairness and impartiality.

In the dojo, he was a strict and focused instructor, yet outside of training, he was warm and approachable—someone who would walk with his students, share meals, and enjoy moments of camaraderie like a close friend.

Shihan Yoshida played a pivotal role in popularizing Shotokan Karate in Bangladesh. His legacy lives on through his students, who continue to carry forward his teachings with pride and respect. He will always remain in our hearts.
