Inspired by watching his older brother do Karate, Sensei Syed Muhammad Zakir Hossain started
learning Shotokan Karate under Shihan Mitsuo Yoshida in December 1992.
In 1995, he was
promoted to 1st Dan in Shotokan Karate by the Bengal School of Shotokan. He is one of the
founding members of Koyo Karate-Do Council and Uttara Karate-Do Dojo.
Becoming national champion for the first time at the 14th National Championships in 1997, Zakir Sensei, along with other Karatekas from the Titas Team, continued dominating the Team Kata event at the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st National Championships, and at the 7th Bangladesh Games. He became the Kumite Champion in the -70kg Kumite event at the 18th National Championships 2004, and at the 5th International Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Championship India 2010.
He has dedicated most of his life to training, teaching, and spreading the art of Shotokan Karate.
He has been ranked 5th Dan by the Bangladesh Karate Federation and 4th Dan by
the Japan Karate Association.
